About Me...

I am 26 years old and am studying a Television and Radio Degree at Salford University in Manchester.

Even though I only started in September 2005, I have thrown myself into student life and write regular features in Salford Student Direct newspaper and become a member of Shock Radio, the student radio station, where I am now Head of Music for the second year running.

During our RSL Licence Broadcast in my first year, I hosted a weekly Breakfast Show. In the second year I ventured two seperate shows on my own. During our last RSL in November I organised a Battle of the Bands competition and interviewed various bands, both local and international. This is ongoing. During my time at Shock, I have gained Best Newcomer at the 2005 awards ceremony, and Best Competition in 2006.

Although I spend the majority of my time in Manchester, I commute to Bodelwyddan in North Wales once a month to do my radio show with Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital Radio.

I have been involved with hospital radio for approximately 18 months and am a member of the radio committee. This is the most enjoyable aspect of my leisure time having had a passion for radio for many years.

My work with the hospital radio includes:

Before starting at University, I worked as a Web Designer/Developer at Safety Media Ltd in Bodelwyddan, North Wales, for 4 1/2 years. You can see examples of my work on my showreel page. Apart from learning the techniques I needed to ensure I did my job effectively, I also developed common sense, self confidence, multi-tasking skills and patience!

I attended a 1 day Presenters' workshop in 2004 at Oxford for SixTV where I created my own showreel which consisted of live, interview and studio/autocue skills. This was a very instructive day where many skills were developed and that have come in very useful for my radio work.

During my time at school I completed both my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards. Taking part in these taught me to be self sufficient, work as part of a team and helped me to show endurance when faced with problems especially bad weather!!

My hobbies and interests include:

I am a good team player as well as being able to work on my own initiative. I am honest, reliable and punctual and will give 100% to everything I do.

I feel I am mature enough to really move forward in a media career. Having been in college and gaining a BTEC in Graphic Design (Merit) among other things (see my CV) and in the world of work for nearly five years, I have independent living skills and inter-personal skills.
